Julien Lamoure, Sébastien Deprat, and Donovan Orie were hoping to surpass the round of 32 on the second day of the Pétanque d’Objat tournament.

The three pétanque players from Corrèze were present this weekend at the International triplettes d’Objat with the team from Pétanque Xaintricoise composed of Julien Lamoure, Sébastien Deprat, and Donovan Orie.

During a break between games on Saturday afternoon, Donovan Orie had the same ritual on the Jean-Lagarde square in Objat, where the seventh edition of the Three Days of Pétanque d’Objat has been taking place since Friday and will continue until Sunday evening. The member of Pétanque Xaintricoise grabbed a small bottle of water from the shade and sprayed his face to cool off in the scorching 30-degree heat.

“It’s hot, but the heat affects everyone. It’s important to stay hydrated and rest well between games,” said Julien Lamoure, teammate of Donovan Orie along with Sébastien Deprat, who was in charge of pointing for the Saint-Privat team.

The trio from Saint-Privat faced tough competition right from the group stage. They found themselves trailing 9-1 against another triplette from Pétanque Xaintricoise, made up of Jonathan Benoni, Eric Leihman, and Eric Riedel.

“We know them well since they are from our club. We played against them last year, and it was a close match. At 1-9, we were a bit worried, but luckily we finished stronger than we started,” Lamoure explained. Eventually, they emerged victorious with a score of 13-9, securing a spot in the round of 32 at the International d’Objat, a stage they had reached the previous year.

Having won their two pool matches comfortably (13-0 and 13-3), the three players from Corrèze were aiming to continue their success on Sunday morning. “I have participated in several French championships, and so have my two colleagues. We know what we are capable of,” shared Julien Lamoure on Saturday afternoon.

The team’s experience and camaraderie have been key factors in their performance at the tournament. They have been playing together at the same club for four seasons and have found the atmosphere at Objat to be very enjoyable. The well-maintained courts, good weather, and strong competition have made the tournament a memorable experience for them.

As they prepared for the next round of competition, the Lamoure-Orie-Deprat triplette remained focused and optimistic about their chances of advancing further in the tournament. With their skills and determination, they aimed to make their mark at the prestigious Pétanque event in Objat.
