Jia City Cultural Road Night Market Traffic Control Extended to 6 PM

Jia City, Taiwan – As the Lunar New Year approaches, Jia City is gearing up for an influx of tourists to the bustling Cultural Road Night Market. Last year, the market saw a staggering 13.3 million visitors, making it the second most visited spot in the country, according to statistics from the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation. In anticipation of the holiday crowds, the city government has announced an extension of traffic control measures in the night market area, starting from January 25th to February 2nd.

Traffic Control Details

The traffic control will now begin at 6 PM instead of the original 7 PM, aiming to address the challenges of pedestrian and vehicular congestion during the festive season. The controlled area includes the Cultural Road Night Market (from south of Zhongzheng Road to north of Minzu Road) with restrictions in place from 6 PM to 11 PM daily. Vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and other two-wheeled vehicles will be affected by the traffic control measures. However, emergency vehicles and essential service vehicles (such as ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, and postal vehicles) will be exempt from these restrictions within the controlled area.

Additional Traffic Measures

In addition to the night market traffic control, the Jia City Police Department will implement traffic diversion measures on key roads such as Zhongshan Road, Cultural Road, Linsen West Road, Bo’ai Road, Beigang Road, the area around the train station, and the fountain roundabout during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday period. Furthermore, the traditional markets of Yonghe and Beixing will see increased police presence from January 24th to 28th to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Special Traffic Directives

On January 31st and February 1st, from 1 PM to 6 PM, a high-occupancy control will be enforced on the northbound ramp of the Jia Yi interchange. Drivers are urged to comply with police instructions during this period to ensure safety and order on the roads.
