Transforming Lala Mountain Peach into Sile Ice: Taoyuan Good Farmers’ Success

The collaboration between Taoyuan City Government’s Agriculture Bureau and Uni-President Convenience Store has been a fruitful one, with the launch of the peach-flavored ice cream back in June. Building on this success, September will see the introduction of the Watermelon Peach Sile Ice and Lala Mountain Peach Bursting Pearls. These innovative products offer a unique twist on traditional flavors, with the Bursting Pearls providing a burst of peach goodness with every bite. Additionally, Uni-President Convenience Store is set to establish a “Taoyuan Good Farmers” section at the Xiao7 National Highway Service Area by the end of August, allowing travelers to purchase Taoyuan’s local specialties conveniently along the highway. This initiative aims to promote and support local farmers while providing consumers with high-quality products.

Mayor’s Endorsement and Personal Anecdote

Mayor Zhang Shanzheng, present at the “Taoyuan Good Farmers Marketing Press Conference,” tasted the upcoming Watermelon Peach Sile Ice and praised it as a “delicious treat.” He shared a touching anecdote from 2016 when he visited earthquake-affected areas in Tainan as the Premier. A rescued young girl, upon waking up from unconsciousness, expressed her desire for a Sile Ice. This story highlights the emotional significance of these products in people’s lives and underscores the importance of promoting local produce like the premium Lala Mountain peaches to a wider audience.

Expansion of Product Offerings and Collaborations

Director Chen Guanyi of the Agriculture Bureau revealed that the Watermelon Peach Sile Ice will hit shelves in approximately 1,500 Uni-President Convenience Stores nationwide on September 4th. Following this, on September 18th, the Lala Mountain Peach Bursting Pearls will be introduced, elevating the experience with an upgraded chewy ice cream. Moreover, in partnership with Uni-President Convenience Store’s National Highway Service Areas, specific sections dedicated to “Taoyuan Good Farmers” will be established at various locations, including Guanmiao, Rende, Dongshan, Tai’an North Station, Tai’an South Station, Qingshui, and Da’an Service Areas. These sections will showcase and sell Taoyuan’s premium agricultural products directly to consumers, promoting local farmers and their produce.

Support for Young Farmers and Community Impact

Chairman Li Wen-zheng of the Taoyuan Farmers’ Association emphasized the long-standing support provided by the city government and the Agriculture Bureau to young farmers. Their efforts aim to encourage young farmers to return to their hometowns and enhance the quality of agricultural products. This collaboration not only showcases the exquisite organic vegetables and peaches produced by young farmers but also opens up new possibilities for Taoyuan’s agricultural sector. President Wang Ziyi of the Taoyuan Young Farmers Association in the Fuxing District expressed gratitude for the support from the city government and Uni-President Convenience Store, enabling the sale of high-quality agricultural products produced by young farmers in convenience stores across Taiwan, including major highway service areas. While this may seem like an additional choice for consumers, for the hardworking young farmers striving to promote the agricultural industry, it signifies a significant opportunity for recognition and growth.

By expanding their product offerings, establishing strategic collaborations, and supporting local farmers, Taoyuan City Government and Uni-President Convenience Store are not only enhancing the availability of premium agricultural products but also empowering young farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture in the region. The “Taoyuan Good Farmers” initiative serves as a platform for showcasing the excellence of local produce and connecting consumers with the hard work and dedication of Taoyuan’s agricultural community. This partnership exemplifies the potential for positive change and growth within the agricultural sector, benefiting both farmers and consumers alike.
