Vietnam Communist Party has decided to take disciplinary action against Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai for violating party rules and laws. The Central Inspection Committee found several officials in violation of party rules and recommended disciplinary action against Le Minh Khai.

According to VnExpress, the Central Political Bureau and the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam held a meeting at the party’s headquarters to address the violations and misconduct of party organizations and members. After reviewing the recommendations of the Central Inspection Committee, it was determined that the government’s General Inspection Party unit from 2016 to 2021 violated the principles of democratic centralism, showed negligence, and failed to comply with inspection regulations, resulting in many party members facing disciplinary and criminal actions.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai was specifically called out for not upholding party rules and national laws, failing to set a good example as a party member, and causing serious consequences and negative public opinion, which damaged the reputation of the party organization and inspection work. As a result, the Central Political Bureau and the Central Secretariat decided to issue a warning to Le Minh Khai and the government’s General Inspection Party unit during the 2016-2021 term.

Currently, Le Minh Khai still holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister in Vietnam. However, following the Communist Party’s warning, he may be at risk of losing his position. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has already reassigned responsibilities to three other deputy prime ministers, reallocating the areas of banking and the economy that were previously under Le Minh Khai’s supervision to other individuals.

This crackdown on officials within the Communist Party underscores the party’s commitment to upholding discipline and integrity among its members, especially those in leadership positions. It sends a clear message that misconduct and violations of party rules and laws will not be tolerated, regardless of one’s position within the government. The Communist Party’s efforts to maintain transparency and accountability within its ranks are crucial for ensuring good governance and public trust in Vietnam’s political system.
